Unclear pronoun reference is a item for HSC students in English examination paper. You may have heard about this item of unclear pronounce reference. Now let us understand what this item is about.

This term is comprised of three components namely unclear, pronoun and reference. What the term unclear is-it is unclear when its meaning for context is not clear. When readers cannot understand what it means then it will be unclear. Now let us think about pronoun. Pronoun is a word which is used instead of a noun. Now latest think about reference. The word reference has come from the verb refer, reference to to denote something, make hint to something. Now if we place the meaning of the three components of the term  unclear pronounce reference, it will mean that it is the word that clarifies who the noun it is used for. Whenever a passage is written for justify the students about the ability of unclear pronoun reference, some of the pronouns inside the passage will not be clear, in other words, some pronouns will have no no clue to the noun.
