Cultural Assault

Introduction : Cultural assault means the intrusion of the foreign culture into the native culture. Cultural assault is regarded to be harmful to the native culture. Foreign influence cannot be considered as a cultural assault but the obscene scene or film or drama or any other form of programmes through satellite TV channel is regarded as a cultural assault.

Victims of the cultural assault: By nature, the teenaged girls and boys are impressionable. They are affected most because of cultural assault discarding their own tradition and heritage. The young boys and girls are fond of wearing jeans pants and T-shirt and prefer band music which is not harmonious with Bangladeshi culture. This is the result of foreign culture and tradition. As a result of the satellite TV channels, cultural assault has become rampant in every sphere of life giving a death blow to local culture and tradition. This should not be permitted to continue.

Bad effects: Every nation has its own culture and heritage. It is the culture that makes a nation rich in all respects. If we give the matter a thought, we will find that the developed countries of the world are rich not only economically but also culturally. A nation becomes rootless if it loses its own culture. A rootless nation cannot command the respect of others and accordingly, it cannot march forward towards progress and prosperity. So, it is a must to prevent cultural assault.

How to prevent cultural assault: There is no harm to watch the satellite TV channels because many informative and educative programmes are telecast through these TV channels. These programmes pave the way for widening knowledge. The obscene programmes which make an assault on the religious and moral values as well as on the indigenous culture should not be allowed to be enjoyed. For the purpose, awareness should be raised among the youths to avoid enjoying such programmes as  such programmes pose a threat to one's own culture and heritage.

Conclusion: It is the duty and responsibility of the educated people and the government as well to make an arrangement to stop cultural assault for the greater interest of the nation. The government may stop telecasting the harmful satellite TV programmes to save the nation from this kind of heinous cultural assault.

সাংস্কৃতিক আঘাতের শিকার : স্বভাবতই, কিশোরবয়স্ক ছেলে ও মেয়েরা সংবেদনশীল হয়। তাদের নিজস্ব ঐতিহ্য ও প্রথা পরিত্যাগ করায় সাংস্কৃতিক আঘাতের কারণে তারা অধিক ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়। কিশোর বয়সি ছেলেমেয়েরা জিন্স প্যান্ট ও টি শার্ট পড়া পছন্দ করে এবং ব্যান্ড সংগীতকে অধিক পছন্দ করে যা বাংলাদেশী সংস্কৃতির সাথে সামঞ্জস্যপূর্ণ নয়। এটা বিদেশি সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের ফল। স্যাটেলাইট টিভি চ্যানেলের কারণে স্থানীয় সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যকে মারাত্মক আঘাত হেনে জীবনের প্রতিটি স্তরে সাংস্কৃতিক আগ্রাসন অবাধভাবে চলছে। একে চলতে দেওয়া উচিত নয়।

খারাপ প্রভাবসমূহ : প্রত্যেক জাতির নিজস্ব সংস্কৃতি আছে সংস্কৃতি একটি জাতিকে সবদিক থেকে সমৃদ্ধ করে তুলে যদি আমরা বিষয়টিকে নিয়ে চিন্তা করি তবে আমরা দেখতে পাবো যে বিশ্বের উন্নত দেশগুলি কেবল অর্থনৈতিকভাবেই সমৃদ্ধ নয় বরং সাংস্কৃতিকভাবেও সমৃদ্ধ। একটি জাতি শেকড়হীন হয়ে যায় যদি এটি নিজের সংস্কৃতিকে হারায়। একটি শেকড়হীন জাতি অন্যদের কাছ থেকে সম্মান আদায় করতে পারে না ফলে এটি অগ্রগতি ও সমৃদ্ধির দিকে অগ্রসর হতে পারে না। সুতরাং, সাংস্কৃতিক আগ্রাসন প্রতিহত করা আবশ্যক।

কিভাবে সাংস্কৃতিক আঘাতের প্রতিরোধ করা যায়: স্যাটেলাইট টিভি চ্যানেলগুলো দেখায় কোন ক্ষতি নেই কারণ অনেক তথ্যপূর্ণ ও শিক্ষামূলক অনুষ্ঠান এই টিভির চ্যানেলগুলোর মাধ্যমে প্রচার করা হয়। এই অনুষ্ঠানসমূহ জ্ঞানের পথ সম্প্রসারিত করে। এই অনুষ্ঠানসমূহ জ্ঞানের পথ সম্প্রসারিত করে। ধর্মীয় ও নৈতিক মূল্যবোধের পাশাপাশি আদিবাসি সংস্কৃতির উপর হামলা করে এমন অশ্লীল অনুষ্ঠানসমূহ উপভোগ করতে দেওয়া উচিত নয়। এই উদ্দেশ্যে, নিজস্ব সংস্কৃতি ও ঐতিহ্যের প্রতি হুমকি আরোপকারী এই ধরনের অনুষ্ঠানসমূহ উপভোগ না করার জন্য তরুণদের মধ্যে সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করা উচিত।

উপসংহার: জাতির বৃহত্তর স্বার্থে, সাংস্কৃতিক আগ্রাসন বন্ধ করার ব্যবস্থা করা শিক্ষিত মানুষদের ও সরকারের দায়িত্ব ও কর্তব্য। সরকার এই ধরনের জঘন্য সাংস্কৃতিক আঘাত থেকে জাতিকে রক্ষা করার জন্য ক্ষতিকর স্যাটেলাইট টিভি অনুষ্ঠানসমূহ প্রচার বন্ধ করতে পারে।
