WHAT IS AN ADJECTIVE?"

To define adjective simply we can say that  adjectives are words that describe something or somebody. Adjectives are used in order to describe or in order to give information about things, ideas people which may be nouns or pronouns.


Example:

The black dog barked. (The adjective black describes the noun "dog".)
In order to understand more precisely the definition of adjective, if we ask the most common question "What kind of ...?" The answer would be an adjective. It is noteworthy that in English the form of an adjective is unchangeable, once we have learnt it, it's always that in all circumstances. More interesting batteries that if the adjective is used to describe a male or female, singular or plural, subject or object, in all the cases does adjective form is not changed which is unlikely in most of the languages of the world.


There are a lots of adjectives that give us factual information regarding the noun - age, colour, size, shape etc.
There are questions with which, what kind, or how many, what type, we need an adjective for the answer of it.
Different types of adjectives in the English language are mentioned below:
Numeric adjectives: three, five, six, one hundred etc.
Quantitative adjectives: more, some, all, half, full etc.
Qualitative adjectives: size, colour, smell etc.
Possessive adjectives: their, my, his, our, your etc.
Interrogative adjectives: whose, which, what etc.
Demonstrative adjectives:those, these, this, that etc.
It is worth mentioning that the articles a, an, and are a special kind of adjectives which are called articles, and the possessives form of person like ok my, our, your, and their are in some cases known as possessive adjectives.


Adjectives to describe Colour:

Adjectives can be used to describe colour. The colours are blue, red, green, brown, yellow, black, white, etc.
To put it in a sentence As for example:
"The blue bottle." or "The blue sky".

Adjectives to describe Opinion:

Adjectives can be used to describe somebody's opinion about something. Examples of opinion are: good, pretty, funny, wrong, light, happy, right, sad, full, soft, hard etc.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
He was a Pretty boy. / She was a happy girl.


Adjectives to describe Size:

Adjectives can be used to describe size a person or a thing. Examples of size are tall,short, big, small, little, tall, short, long, same as, different, similar etc.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"The big animal." or "The huge giant".


Adjectives to describe Age:

Adjectives can be used to describe age of something or somebody.
To put it in a sentence for example:
"She is an old woman." or "He was young boy."
 


Adjectives to describe Shape:

Adjectives can be used to describe shape aap something.
Examples of shape are circle,cube,round, circular, rectangular, triangular,square, oval, flat etc.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"It was a triangular box." or "These were round boxes."


Adjectives to describe Origin of something or somebody:

Adjectives can be used to describe origin of something or somebody.
Examples of origin: germany, france, Italian.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"It was a Bangladeshi flag." or "It was Indian flag."

Adjectives to describe Material:

Adjectives can be used to describe the material or content of something which is made of.
Examples of material:
"A silver cupboard." or "Brazen cupboards."
It is noteworthy that in English grammar, we often change nouns into adjectives.
As For example: glass: a glass vase, metal: a metal toy etc.


Adjectives to describe Distance:

Adjectives can be used to describe distance of places.
Examples of distance are: short, long, far, near, around, start, high, low, etc.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"They went for a long walk." or "I covered a short distance"
 

Adjectives to describe Temperature:

Adjectives can be used to describe temperature of something.
Examples of temperature are cold, warm, hot, cool, etc.T o put it in a sentence for Example:
"It is a hot day" or "We drink hot tea."


Adjectives can describe Time:

Adjectives can describe time.
Examples of describing time are morning, night, late night, early morning, bed, nap, dinner, lunch, morning, afternoon, noon, day, night, etc.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"She made an early journey."
 

Adjectives to describe Purpose:

Adjectives can be used to describe purpose option body or something and these adjectives often end with 'ing'.
To put it in a sentence for Example:
"I gave them a slicing knife." or "She gave me a writing pen."
